Do u gave any other info on Roy Marvin Gaines? Who was his mother? Was she a Baggett? There was a John Baggett born ca. 1817 in Jones Co. Ga. married Elizabeth Yarbough in Sumpter Co. Al. John was a son of Joel Baggett (Judge Baggett) brought his family to Gregg Co. Tx in 1841 from Sumpter Co. Al. Judge Baggett names 12 children in his will and amoung them are John Baggett in Rusk Co. Tx. If this is the same John Baggett whom you seek, according to a book by J. W. Wilbarger, John lost his son, Joel to an Indian attack (son Joel was only 12 years Old) and seriously wounded another child Bettie Baggett, 10 years old. I have more info.
