Baggett, Bennie "Joe"

BENNIE "JOE" BAGGETT, 72, of Alvin, Texas passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center in Webster, Texas. Joe was born December 22, 1929 in Crane, Texas to Bennie Travis Baggett & Cora Lester Burk Baggett. Joe was an Alvin area resident since 1963 & was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Manvel, Texas. He was a past council member & chairman of building committee of Grace United Methodist Church, a member of Masonic Lodge #63, past leader of Boy Scouts in Hobbs, New Mexico for 4 years, leader of 4H in Brazoria county for 20 years & was outstanding leader of the year. His first love was his family & shared himself with his friends & church. Joe was preceded in death by his father Bennie Travis Baggett. Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie Jean Baggett of Alvin whom he married on February 7, 1952 in Seminole, Texas. Also surviving is his daughter, Beverly Richter & husband Paul of Brenham, Texas and his son, Terry Joe Baggett & wife Renee' of Waller, Texas & his mother Cora Lester Baggett of San Angelo, Texas. Also his grandchildren, Matthew, Danny, Michelle & Travis. Also his extended family, David Sauer & wife Janet & their daughters Amy, April & Allison of Alvin, Texas. He leaves behind a brother Winfred Baggett of San Antonio, Texas & sister Lois Andrews of Jal, New Mexico. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews & other relatives. Visitation will be held 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, September 13, 2002 at Oak Park Chapel. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 14, 2002 at Oak Park Chapel with Rev. Sue Carter, Rev. Kay Johnson & Rev. Chuck Andrews officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Alvin, Texas. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church of Manvel, Texas.
