This will be lengthly as I hope some of this will ring a bell with someone. I am stuck with Elizabeth Beard my ggg grandmother. Some 25 plus years trying to find the parentage of Elizabeth's son John Cromer/Kramer has been solved and verified.
Now to John's mother. I don't know if I have another 25 years left in me to find her parents as I will be pushing 90 by that time. So I am asking for help. Elizabeth Beard b. 10 Mar. 1780 and d. 1 Mar. 1872 was born in Maryland, probably in Frederick Co. as she is buried in the old Elias Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery outside of Emmitsburg. Two of her children are buried there also. Elizabeth was married to Johann Georg (George) Kramer on Oct. 1, 1801 in York County, Pa. George passed away in 1831. She lived with her children as shown on census records of 1850, 1860, 1870. George and Elizabeth's children were: Sarah, Mary, Elizabeth, Henry Beard (note the Beard as his middle name), Susan or Suzannah, John, Mehala, George Washington, Catherine, Adam, and Jane. Birth dates go from 1802 to 1823. The last name around this time was Kramer, but Kraumer and Cramer is found. Around 1850 or so it seems to have become Cromer. Some conjecture is that she is the daughter of Frederick Beard of Frederick County. His daughter Elizabeth does not fit nor did she marry George Kramer. Her sons John (my gg) and George Washington moved to Darke County Ohio. There is a Mill there known as Baer's Mill. It was built in 1847 by a Gabriel Baer and was run/owned later by George Washington Cromer. I have copies of photos from the Ohio Historical Society and written on the back is Beard's Mill. Does anyone out there know if Elizabeth is actually the daughter of a Baer? Baer, Kramer, Beard were prolific it seems in the late 1700's to mid-1800 in Adams, York, Lancaster and Frederick Co. Md. until the westward movement diluted them there. I sincerely appreciate any help.
