What I have is that Anthony Badgley s/o John Badgley was b Essex CO NJ ca 1720, removed with his son to Hardy CO VA 1768, and d probably before 1775. His presence in Hardy CO is documented by his inclusion on the South Valley land list (online). A Badgley family history written by Aaron Badgley's son Adam also dates the migration to Hardy CO at 1768. My notes state that Anthony's name does not appear on a land record later than 1775. I have seen no evidence that Anthony accompanied his son David to Illinois in 1797---he would have been 77 but I have two other ancestors who made such a trip at about that age so it's not impossible. I have that Prudence Badgley as Anthony's daughter is "putative", that she was b 1744, which would make her b Essex CO NJ, and that she m Henry Steele ca 1795. Someone told me they went to Illinois with David Badgley but I have not found them there, so far.
