dear ann
i have made some progress with baddeleys, but now i am stuck. my great grandfather joseph thomas baddeley, jewller, of handsworth parish (birmingham) married amelia phillips in 1864. he was age twenty-one, and his father was george baddeley, also jeweller, also of handsworth. there the trail runs out and i believe that his generation moved to birmingham from staffordshire. i have a record that in 1787 a mary baddeley was born in staffordshire to johbn baddeley and his wifwe nee mary wedgewood. this john baddeley was the most important of the staffs potters, and the wedgewoods of course need no introduction. from family word of mouth i am convinced that this is the dsescent but i cant yet make the connections. the amelia phillips who married joseph was of middlemore descent and opens a vast and well documented history back to alfred the great ad 900. the middlemores inter married with the throckmortons and related to walter raleigh and lots of lovely history, all well documented and easy to follow. still, i would dearly like to close the baddeley connection. any ideas
