I so enjoyed reading this Diary...On my mother's side there is a direct link to Susannah Bacot who married Edward Wingate. Do you have any information on these folk to share? Also, The Mclendon Family... James and Mary were my ggrandparents...my grandmother was their youngest child. I remember as a child visiting Cynthia Mclendon Turner (Ada's adopted daughter). Also my father told on several occasions that one of his Mclendon uncles used slave labor to change the course of the Pee Dee River (about a 5 mile loop). I couldn't figure out how he was over on the river until I read this book. I always thought the Mclendons lived in Timmonsville, SC.
