He may be descended from Peronneau Bacot, son of Peter Allston Bacot, according to "A Confederate Nurse, the Diary of Ada W. Bacot, 1860-1863" edited by Jean v. Berlin and published by the University of South Carolina Press. According to the footnotes on p. 20, Peter Allston Bacot was a cousin of Ada's father, who was named Peter Samuel Bacot and was born in 1810. Peter Samuel B. owned the Roseville plantation near Society Hill, SC in Darlington County.
