Since you know what city and county in which Alma died (Gloversville, Fulton Co., NY), try phoning the courthouse below to see if you can obtain a death certificate through them or if you need to obtain one through the state. A death certificate usually lists the names of the individual's parents, if known by the person supplying information at Alma's decease.

Another suggestion would be to check the marriage records for the county in which they were married. In the 1900 federal census, the couple was residing in- Au Sable, Iosco, Michigan. So you could request a marriage license from Iosco county--be sure to request the application they completed for the license with your request, which would list the names of their parents. See website below:

If they were married in Detroit, Michigan, send a similar request to Wayne Co. See website below:
