Herman 7 Backus, son of Simeon 6 and Polly (Patchen) Backus
(Simeon 6, Ichabod 5, Joshua 4, Nathaniel 3, Francis 2, Francis 1?)
was born Feb 16, 1829, in Evans Twp., Erie Co. N.Y.
He lived at Dexter, later and Grand Ledge, Michigan. and Died at Lansing, April 2, 1920.
He married Eliza Jane Lown on Feb. 22, 1855 and their children:
1. Dwight 8, b. January, 1856
2. Volney 8, b. January, 1857. Married and had one child,
a. Clare 9, who married ?, loved at Charlotte, Michigan, then Palmetto, Florida. (Clare had five children,)
3. Ada 8, b. October 1858
4. Burton 8, b. November 1861
5. Ivy 8, b. August 1865
6. Myra 8, b. January 1867
7. James H. 8, b. april 1869, in grand Ledge, Michigan in 1963
8. Clyde 8, b in Eaton County Michigan, September 22,1873
There are eight children listed...opps, you asked for siblings, these are his children.
ok...found Simeon 6 Backus, Herman's father:
Third son of Ichabod 5, and Deliverance (Hamilin) Backus.
Simeon was born April 16, 1786, at Lee, Mass., Moving with his father to Groton, N.Y. He married Polly Patchen, and in 1824 moved to Aurelius,Cayuga Co., N.Y.; later to Erie Co., and finally in Feb. 1836 settled on Section 30, Isco Twp., Michigan.
Their children are (list possibly not complete or in order)
1. Lorenzo 7, b. 1817: record unclear, but may have had sons Lorenzo and Frank.
2. Hiram 7, B. April 4, 1821; died Oct. 16, 1912
3. Herman 7, b Feb. 16, 1829; died April 2, 1920
4. Abijah 7
5. Allen ?7
6. Jared 7
*the numbers reflect the generation from the original Francis(1) Backus.
