The family of Joseph and Olive (Parks) Backus moved from Duchess County New York to Erie County, PA about 1802. They had several children who lived to adulthood, married and had children of their own. One was Steven, born 1791; he married Ann Storey. This family moved to Canada, actually just across Lake Erie from Harborcreek, PA This Joseph's sister, Lydia, married Leslie Patterson and that family also moved to Canada. The family of Steven and Ann (Story) Backus could have had children born after about 1810, perhaps they are the Backus family you are searching for. There were two or three other sons of the original family of Joseph and Olive (Parks) Backus who certainly could have had children but I know nothing of their fates. Some moved to the American midwest. If any of this rings a bell with you, I have more information on some of the branches descended from Joseph and Olive (Parks) Backus.
Hopes this helps Perry Smith
