My GG Grandmother (my mother's, mother's, father's mother) was Sarah Jane Backhouse. She was buried Sarah Jane Backus Simmons. Her father was William Allichoff Backus, married to Agnes Campbell. Near Longpoint, Ontario, is the Backus Heritage Conservation Area. This land I believe was donated or sold to the province by Sarah's brother John. It is something of a 'pioneer village' with many of the original buildings still standing today. Anyone who thinks there may be a connection here, please let me know.
