Hi there my family are from one of John Thomas's children Joseph William who married Ellen Philip on the 30 April 1887 she died when my father Clarence Hamilton Backhouse was three months old on the 2 February 1897 in Brooklyn Wellington, New Zealand. I have been trying to trace Ellen's parentage with little luck. I know she was born in Cornwall England in 1886 and her father and mothers names were William Philip and Mary Jane Lindon. Have quite a bit of information on the Backhouse family tree and would be interested in finding out a bit more on Ellen.
