I would be very grateful for any assistance in tracing the details of the early life of Sarah Backhouse born around 1845-1849 in either Wolverhampton or Liverpool (Census differences).
She had at least eight or nine children with her husband Charles Nelson Ballinger (1843 - 1906). Her parents were Peter Maxwell Backhouse and Mary Ann Backhouse (maiden surname Ashton). She was born in either Wolverhampton or Liverpool (Census details of birthplace and age differ).
She and her family travelled extensively around England before settling in Dundee between 1892 and 1901. This was probably a consequence of their theatrical connections.
Any information would be really helpful.
