Subject is my father. I cannot find his parents as first step in doing my family list. Birth date 21 May 1897 confirmed by GRO 99 120.
Had an unsuccessful marriage in the 1920s.
Second marriage to JENNIE GAMBLE was thought to be 01 Jan 1929. At least, we celebrated their wedding anniversary on that date yet there is no evidence in the GRO at Sheffield Yorkshire Archives of any BACKHOUSE marriage in the first three months of 1929.
If this helps, JENNIE was born 02 Jan 1905 and died 29 Aug 1989 and had three sons, Kenneth born 1929 and died almost at once, Norman born 06 Mar 1933 and Geoffrey born 21 July 1944.
