Richard, I have the daughter of these two in my line. Hannah Backhouse married Edward Brown in Nicholas County. Their daughter, my gg-grandmother, Sarah Brown, was supposedly adopted by them. She married Caleb Phillips in Kanawaha County. I found Joseph living with Hannah and Edward on the 1850 census for Nicholas County. Have no other info on any of them. Any ideas?? Diane
