Bachmann was my mother's maiden name.
Do you where in Germany he was born, the year he emigrated and to what city or area in Canada, any names of brothers, sisters, grandparents,etc. Do you know the religious background of he or his family?
Many south Germans named Bachmann were descendants of Swiss-German Mennonites who emigrated to southwest Germany after the Thirty-Years War had decimated the native inhabitants.
If you have any info at all, perhaps I might be of some assistance.
