While I don't think we are closely related, I
have my GGgrandfather,Carl August Bacher emmigrated from East Prussia ( Henskemen ) in about 1880 to Philadelphia. This part of Germany is now part of Russia and had been German and Polish over the centuries. Bacher
is a German name though. I'm researching this now. I've found a Carl Bacher in East Prussian records whose ancestors go back to approx. 1690 but the disconnect occurs when he comes to America. The list of children differs. He was born in 1844. Check out the Mormon archives and see if you can find a connection. There seems to be alot about
East Prussian Bachers for some reason. Also
some from Poland, Russia, Hungary.
