The information we have on John Baccus is that found in the Michael Franks Family History and Genealogy (1979). It says that John was "possibly killed in Revolutionary War". Another mention of John's military service quotes the Horne Papers, Vol. 1: John Bachus (sic) from Redstone in Yohogania Co. (then claimed by Virginia, but what is now Fayette Co., PA) is listed as one of the Monongalia Co. VA Regulars in Service at the Battle of Cowpens (South Carolina, 1781). I hope this helps. My husband, Everett Lee Baccus, is a 5th generation descendent of John and Catherine.
