Actually there might be some information available on Alvar's wife.

According to a web site called "Windows to the Unknown: Cabeza de Vaca's Journey to the Southwest" from The Center for the Study of the Southwest at Southwest Texas State University, at some point after having returned to Spain, the wife of Alvar spent a great deal of the couple's money trying to "defend his reputation", although they do not mention her name.

This site seems to have very good sources if one is interested in looking into it more.
