Cabeza de Baca, C de Baca

I am currently collecting names and stories of the descendants of Luis Maria Cabeza de Baca. Luis Maria was the son of Juan Antonio Baca and Maria Romero. He apparently changed his surname around the time he was trying to get a land grant in Northern NM, saying that he was a descendant of Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca, the Spanish discoverer of New Mexico (there is no proof that he was actually descended from this man.)

I have seen some sources that show that he had 23 or 24 children. I have actually only found proof of 19.

I'm most interested in the descendants of one of his children, Jose Mateo Mauricio Cabeza de Baca. If anyone has any information about this man and his descendants - stories would be great - please contact me. If anyone knows of any books or articles written about Mateo and his descendants, I would like to know.
