Mary Dunn Baber and Aron Fluty
I found a new marriage for Aaron Fluty
The marriage record for Aaron Fluty and Mary Baber has Aaron aged 41, Mary 35, both as widowed, both residents of Fayette Co., VA, his parents as Frank and Elizabeth Fluty, hers as James and Elizabeth Dunn. Aaron is listed born in Clark Co., Ky and Mary in Albemarle Co., VA. They were married December 3,1865 by I. C. Cavendish, minister.
However there is a marriage record for Mary Baber, to Joshua Coleman four years later in Fayette Co., VA. Mary is listed as aged 39, widowed, born in Albemarle Co., VA, parents James and Elizabeth Dunnn.
Aaron is listed on 1870 Lawrence Co., Ky census. He is listed with wife Mary. This is Mary Ann Maynard because Joshua Coleman and wife Mary A. are on 1870 Fayette Co., WV census.
When Aaron applied for his Civil War pension in 1899 he gave oath he had only been married once to Mary Ann Maynard.
So did Aaron and Mary Maynard seperate, or did Aaron "travel'? Did have have 2 households? Did Aaron and Mary Baber divorce? Did he desert her? Why did he go back to Mary Maynard? He obviously lied on his pension application.
On the 1900 Martin Co., Ky census Aaron is listed as married, head of household. He is only one listed in his household. Mary Ann Maynard is in household of son Laban. Aaron is buried at the Flutylick Cemetery in Martin Co., Ky. He buried alongside his father Francis and brother Francis. All three have military markers. No death record for Mary Ann Maynard Fluty has been found. If she is buried at Flutylick Cemetery she only has a field stone as no marker for her is there.
Can any descendants add anything else to this mystery marriage??
