On November 4th of this year, at around 12 noon I unearthed the gutta percha comb belonging to Charles L. Babbitt of the 12th New York Volunteers. He mustered in out of Elmira or Syracuse New York in May of 1861 and re-upped for the next two years. He was encamped in Falmouth Virginia at what was then known as Stonmeman's Station or Switch, a railroad junction and depot. Can anyone offer more info on him and his service in the Civil War and after (if he survived) I would love to have an image of him. The inscription on the comb is in his own hand. If you are interested in the picture of the comb I can send it to you.
