You may already have found this info. This is from the Kirkland Elders Quorum Record 1836-1841 of the Early Latter Day Saints Church. You can find it at Cyndi's list, look under Mormons.

Almon Whiting Babbit(Also Babitt) (1812-1856). Born at Cheshire, Berkshire, Mass. Baptized 1833. Participated in march of Zion's Camp 1834. Ordained seventy 1835. Migrated to northern MO 1838. Expelled. Settled in Nauvoo, Hancock Co, IL. Called by Church leaders to rebuild Kirkland, Oh 1841. Disfellowshipped 2 Oct 1841 for teaching and promoting building up of Kirkland as "place of gathering". Made satifaction and returned to IL 1842. Participated in the battle of Nauvoo 1846. Moved to Utah. Elected delegate to Congress for provisional State of Deseret. Appointed secretary of Ut Territory 1852. Died in Nebraska while returning from Washington DC.
