If Orange md Melinda Morrells in Peoria, that makes another wife for this busy blacksmith. 1820 census, Union, Erie, PA he is with wife, Nancy Thompson, Melinda, Harrison and Clarissa. Sept 1821 family arrives Indiana. With b-in-law, Elias Thompson and Samuel Williams families, they go to Ill to look at bounty lands.May 1828 Orange div Nancy in Sangamon Co.Ill. Jan 1829 Orange md Katherine Cagle, sister of Jacob Elias Cagle who was the husb of Clarissa, Orange's dau.One dau born to Katherine, Ursula Babbitt. May 15 1857 Orange md 15 year old Lucinda Webster in Natchitoches, LA. Melinda his dau never md and was on 1820 Cen in PA, 1830 Cen in ILL, 1840 and 1850 Cen in LA with Orange. She was missing from 1860 census in LA. Maryx0l@ earthlink.net knows of an old ltr that Orange mailed to Jacob Elias'dau, Isabel Cagle Stanley more than 100 years ago in which he said that "Little Pullit" left him. That may be his pet name for dau, Melinda. Wish I could see that letter.
Were there any children born to Melinda Morrell during her mg to Orange? Do you have a mg license or is it listed under mgs in Peoria? There couldn't be two Orange Babbitts
