There is an excellent book that has been in publication (or re-publication for some years, called
"Pioneer Stories of Arizona's Verde Valley". I bought my copy at Fort Verde gift
shop in 1997. I suspect you may have already seen this, but it is full of stories of the Verde
pioneers, including one titled, "Samuel Loy and his neighbors of 1877".

My ancestors, the Davidsons, Charles Grimes with his uncle David Strahan came to the Verde
on the wagon train from Humansville, MO in 1875 also.

Unfortunately, the Grimes' were not available for input when the book on pioneer stories was printed,
so I have not been able to find out much about them. Babs Monroe at the Historial Society searched their files and found
out a lot about the Strahans, but there is not much available on the Grimes's.

Do you have any information at all about Charles or Jim Grimes, or William O. Grimes, "Ollie", my
grandfather? My grandmother taught school at Camp Verde. My dad, Walt Grimes, graduated from high school

Thanks for any info you can give me. I would be happy to make copies of any of the
stories pertaining to the Loys if you would like. Thanks!

Annie Schaff
