Burial of 1Lt Joseph Edward TATUM, USAF, 1949?

USAF 1Lt Joseph Edward TATUM had survived WWII as a bombardier on a B-17 in Europe and returned to civilian life in Charlotte, NC where his mother & step-father resided. In 1947 he re-entered the USAF. On Dec. 22, 1948 he perished when the B-50 bomber of which he was a crew member crashed on a training flight in Alaska resulting in the deaths of all aboard. On Jan. 2, 1949 his body was returned to his home base, Davis Monthan Air Force Base, AZ. I have been unable to find any record of where Joe was buried. There is no indication that he ever married. He is not buried in any city-owned cemetery at Charlotte, nor have I been able to find any newspaper announcement of a funeral at Charlotte. Thanks for any help or suggestions in the event Joe is buried in the vicinity of Davis Monthan.
