I have no further info but additional newspaper extracts may be found at URL: http://www.newspaperabstracts.com/index.php Vern D //////////////////////////////////////////// Transcribed by Dee Sardoch ////////////////////////////////////////// Stockton Daily Argus Stockton, San Joaquin Co., CA ************************* >>Friday, 12 July 1861<< JUST -- Sacramento 'News' -- Miller BARTLETT, another California desperado, who shot a sick man in his bed at Knight's Ferry some years ago, was recently killed at Tucson, Arizona. We stood within a few feet of him last November and saw him shoot down an unarmed man, in cold blood, in the same saloon in which he at last got his reward of merit. After the butchery of his victim, he deliberately put up his pistol and walked unconcernedly away, such being the state of society, that no one dared to arrest him, or even speak a word in condemnation of the horrible deed.
