Thanks for your reply. I thought, when I first started trying to find Tilman Jones several years ago, that I was lucky his name was Tilman and not John or Joseph, etc. Wrong. There are so many Tilman Jones! The 1880 census you listed could well have been another Tilman Jones, even though it looks like Joins. Amazing how many differnet spellings and/or mistakes can be made with a simple name like Jones. My Tilman was in Texas in 1880. I just found him on a census there with the correct family, even though some of them are listed as only initials instead of full names. Unfortunate. I do appreciate your time and effort!
