Thank you so very much. You have solved a great family mystery for me.

My ggg-grandfather, Frank Smith (listed as Smith Frank in Angel Is., Marin Co., Cal. 1880 census), was in the 5th cavalry band (first stationed at Ft. McPherson, NE, then Ft. McDowell, AZ, then I believe with the 8th infantry at Ft. Whipple, AZ). I knew he and his wife, Amelia Porter Smith, had another child but could never figure out who that child was. Thanks to you, I believe I now have the answer.

Frank and Amelia Smith also had the following children: Amelia Louise Smith (b. August 1873 in AZ), Anna Elizabeth Smith (b. April 1876 in Prescott, AZ), Frances M. Smith (b. Oct. 1877 in AZ), and (Robert Porter Smith, b. 2/8/1882 in OR). Any chance the book you cite makes reference to any of the other AZ births?

I found the internment records for Frederick Robert Smith in It indicated that his body was not one of the ones that was removed to the Presidio. Were some left behind?

Thanks again,
