Phoenix Gazette, 1 Dec 1953, page 4: "Mrs. Lucy Ellen Jarrell, who with her husband, Jarrell, observed her 61st wedding anniversary Oct. 22, died in the county hospital yesterday at the age of 79. Mrs. Jarrell, an Arizona resident since 1911, had been ill for nearly two weeks. She and her husband moved to the Alhambra district from Kentucky and resided there until they moved to Glendale in 1946. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jarrell is survived by five sons, Sherman, of Los Angles, John, of El Monte, Calif., Frank, of Phoenix, and Jess and Amos Jr., both of Glendale. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Miller, of Glendale, and Mrs. Stella Graham, El Monte, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Jennie Jarrell of Cranden, Wis.; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Jarrell and her sister married brothers. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow in the Brazill-Whitney Mortuary. Burial will be in Resthaven Park."
Arizona Republic, 28 Aug 1957, page 36: "Funeral Services for Ansel A. Jarrell, 90, retired Glendale farmer and rancher, will be held at 9 a.m. tomorrow at Brazill-Whitney Mortuary. Mr. Jarrell died yesterday morning in a Phoenix hospital. He had been a resident of Glendale since 1911, and made his home at 6048 N. 41st Ave., with a ranch and farm at Lateral 14 1/2 and Grand Canal. He was born in Ellott County, Ky. Mr. Jarrell, whose wife died in 1953 is survived by five sons, Sherman, Los Angeles, John, El Monte, Calif., Frank, Phoenix, and Jess and Amos, Glendale; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Miller, Glendale, and Mrs. Stella Graham, El Monte; a brother, Joseph, Valparaiso, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. Julie Bryant, Morehead, Ky; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren."
