From the AZ Repulic, 23 Jan 1937, Section 2, page 6: "Andrew Jackson Giles, 79 years old, a resident southeast of Gilbert since 1918, died yesterday morning in his home after an ilness of several months. He was a native of Illinois and formerly resided in Chandler. Surviving are his wife, Orpha; one son, M.L. Giles of Beaver Creek, Oregon; three daughters, Mrs. Guy Simpson, Chandler, Mrs. Lee Douglas, Gilbert, and Mrs. Ruby Wickliffe, San Francisco; and one granddaughter, Mrs. Thomas Smith, Yarnell."
24 Jan 1937, Section 4, page 2: "Funeral services for Andrew J. Giles, 79 year old resident of the Chandler and Gilbert district almost 26 years, who died Friday, will be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the M.L. Gibbons mortuary here with the Rev. Marvin E. Heard of Sacaton officiating. Interment will be at the Mesa cemetery. Mr. Giles was a native of Illinois and died after an illness of several months."
