obit of son of William Patrick or Patton Hughes:

I had to pay $2.50 to read this on the Internet, so here's a copy for you: Obituary in The Arizona Republic (published 25 & 26 Apr 2009), accessed online 24 Jun 2009: "Hughes, Boyd V. age 86, passed away at his home in Mesa early Wednesday morning. He was born in Winslow, AZ to a family of Arizona Pioneer Cowboys. He was preceded in death by his father William Patton Hughes and his mother Susan Oneta Hughes, his brothers Bill, Jim, Mack, Emmett and Ernest, and his sister Viola. Boyd is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Nell Hughes, his sons Phil (Joan) of Phoenix and Stan (Susanne) of Mesa, three grandchildren, Jenny (Doug) of Chandler, Justin of Mesa, and Janet (Aaron) of Chandler, and five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jared, Luke, Weston and Ashton. Boyd is also survived by his younger brother Pat Hughes, an 82-year-old working cowboy who resides in Seligman, AZ. A US Navy Veteran of WWII, Boyd served aboard the USS Pringle and USS Rednour
between 1941 and 1945 in the South Pacific. Boyd was self-employed and owned his own construction business for over 60 years. He was a master mechanic and an expert in repairing heavy equipment and vintage farm tractors. Boyd made the world a better place. He was a man of integrity and well known for his generosity and kindness to all. He will be deeply missed by family and friends. Contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice of the Valley. Memorial service will be held Friday, May 1, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Meldrum Mortuary and Chapel, 52 N. MacDonald Street, Mesa, AZ."
