H Denise: I don't know where John or Mary(Brotherton) Reed are buried. My bet would be Lemon Twp., Butler Co., OH. My theory is that my ancestor, William Reed who m. Mary Harper was related your Reed family of Butler Co. The theory is based on similarity of names, the presence of David Chalmers Reed in Labette Co., KS, etc.

My ancestor, William Reed [1777-1829] after his m. to Mary purchased a farm in Fayette Co., OHIO, near Mary's Harper family. There were many Reed families in the area and seemed to move back and forth between Fayette Co and Butler Co. They were in Warren Co. and Clinton Co.

My g grandfather, William Henry Reed [1837-1915] named one of his twin sons, b. 1872, Edward Looman Reed. Looman is usually spelled Luman or Lewman so the unusual spelling of the name is viewed as a primary clue to relationship. However, as you know there were Reeds even from Fayette Co.,PA. (see Reed GenForum #7211 RE: James Reed & Elizabeth Swassick)

The William and Mary Reed who lived in Berkeley Co might also be a related family. That Mary is Mary (Hutchinson) Reed on of their son m. a Chalmers.

If you have any of these names in your family tree there may be a connection between our Reeds: Cameron, McHenry, Harper, Stockdale, Ellis, Bryan, Tate, McLean, Bainter. Joe
