Some of my children and I went hiking in Sunnyside Canyon, Cochise County, Arizona to look for the cemetery. It took us a while, but, by spreading out and sweeping the area we finally found the cemetery. by the time we found it, we were running out of time. We quickly wrote down all the names from the grave markings.
There were three rows of grave markings. The cemetery is not setting straight with the section lines. It is closer to a 45 degree angle from the section line. The graves are situated with the "headstones" toward the southwest. A line drawn through a row of graves would go from southeast to northwest.
The gate was situated in the center of the northeast side. Entering the gate,
The first row we encountered had only one grave on the far left. The grave had no name. It was marked only be a wrought iron cross.
The second row was as follows from left to right:
(1) Isis J. (small wooden cross) (no dates)
(2) (blank space)
(3) Lucy Herrick Langford (no dates)
(4) Ida Moore (no dates)
(5) Jhon Merritt 1862-1945 (a rock next to the plaque had the name John instead of Jhon and included the following: "Feb 1862 - April 1945"
The third, and last, row was as follows from left to right:
(1) John Reichert (no dates)
(2) Tom Duncan (no dates)
(3) Jacob Bisel (no dates)
(4) Vincent Langford (Additionally, on a rock "Vincent") (no dates)
(5) Albert Gattrell (no dates)
(6) Diana Eley Gattrell (no dates)
All the graves except for the one with the wooden cross and the one with the wrought iron cross were marked by a metal plaque which had the following at the bottom: "Carroon Mortuary Inc."
