James "Little General" Ayres was born abt.1861 in Tenn. of unknown parents.He married Annie abt. 1889? They lived most of their lives in the general area of Marietta, Cobb county Georgia. James and Annie raised a family of ten fine children on a farm in that county.
The youngest daughter-- Fannie Mae Ayres Wilson was my late mother-in-law.
Annie died in the 20's-- James in the late 30's or early 40's.
My mother-in-law spoke of how the Civil war had effected her father and the rest of his family. How his parents had died of a plague. Sickness--that many suffered--from the hard times the war brought to the south. She told how James raised his brothers and sisters,keeping them together, even though he was young. Their neighbors nicknamed him little General. The nickname stuck-- all his life he was call Little General Ayres.
I have a good history of the family from James and Annie down but need infomation on his and her life before their marriage.Any help would be appreciated.
