Ayre, b. circa May 1830 in England; d. after 1910; m. circa 1860 to: Elloner Unknown, b. circa June 1844 in Scotland; d. before April 25, 1910 in Spring Valley, Bureau Co., Illinois Their Children: 1. Unknown; b. circa 1865 9. Unknown; b. circa 1866 Notes on Cuthbert: Cuthbert was born in May 1830 in England. Around 1860, Cuthbert married his wife, Eleanor. In 1888, Cuthbert emigrated from England to Spring Valley, Illinois, America with his wife, Eleanor, and grandson, Thomas Bainbridge. The 1900 Census lists Cuthbert as the Head of Household, a white male, who was 70 years old. The census records also indicate he had been married for 40 years and was naturalized. His occupation at that time was a coal miner. He could read, write and speak English and was renting the family home located in Spring Valley, Hall Township, Bureau Co., Illinois. The 1910 Census lists Cuthbert as sole member of his household located on Carolina Street, Spring Valley, Hall Township, Bureau Co., Illinois. At the time of the census, he was 79 years old and widowed. His occupation at that time was a laborer and he owned his home, free of any mortgages. Notes on Elloner: Eleanor was born around June 1844 in Scotland. Around 1860, Eleanor married Cuthbert Ayre. In 1888 Eleanor emigrated to America with her husband, Cuthbert, and her grandson, Thomas Anthony Bainbridge. On June 8, 1900, Eleanor was residing with her husband, and grandson in Spring Valley, Hall Township, Bureau Co., Illinois. The census lists Eleanor as a 55 year old, white female, who had been married for 40 years and was the mother of nine children, three of whom were living. At the time of the census, she had been in America for 12 years. Although she could speak English, she could not read or write.
