Hello Trevor ... Thanks for info , it would appear that the Ayre family lived Smith Street prior to moving into Thorpe Street ,Smith Street is between Mad world and the Mulberry Tree , my Great Great Great Grandfather lived in No 15 , the family were Tallow Chandlers and Brass Finishers for ships fittings and candles. There were approx 3 Ayre families in Smith Street .
More latterly they worked in the old Iron works as Fitters/Turners etc.
MAd World used to be a Hotel , No15 Smith Street is still standing.
