Hello Iain,

I'm also trying to research my Ayre family history - my Great Grandfather Charles Ayre who arrived in Australia around 1870 was also disinherited apparently for marrying a commoner (Hannah Blockley). I believe his Father or Grandfather was the owner of a mine of some sort. My Father was John Charles Ayre and his Father Joseph. I'm afraid I don't have a lot of information on our UK link. Are we from your line?
