Thank you, Sharron, I have not made the tie as yet. DGFC Tanguay Vol 4, P471 and Note(2) Mes Aieux Family Number 8601294 Partial text from my website: Étienne Hayot-Marticot is generally accepted as a child of Jean-François Hayot and Josèphe (Josepthe) Rousseau. However, there is no official record in the PRDH to support this assumption! From Acadie, I found the following names: Ayot from Beaubassin, Daguet from Île Saint-Jean, and Renaud from Grand Pré, Île Saint-Jean, Îles de la Madeleine, Île Miquelon, Louisbourg and Restigouche(excerpts from http://www.acadianmemorial.org/ensemble_encore/cajunrootsa.htm) The PRDH shows an Étienne Hayot-Hayet as a pioneer from France, married before 1753 in an undetermined location to Marie Anne Françoise Daguet dit Renaud. Françoise is from Beaubassin, Acadie. Thus I surmise they marry in Acadie; most probably in Beaubassin. Mes Aïeux shows Françoise as Ayotte (obviously the current spelling) - something to consider for women as yet did not adopt their husband's name upon marriage. The PRDH lists Étienne's family name with variants such as Ayet, Ahiet, Aiet, Alliet, Aliet, Payet, Aguet, Aiellet, Haillet, Hayot and Marticot. On 11 Apr 1752, Étienne "Aguet" - it's all in the phonetics - attends the marriage of Isaac Treilli, a resident of Montmagny who originates from Ste-Anne de Louisbourg. Isaac is the son of René Treilli, deceased, and Judith Maisonat. He marries Marie Fournier in Montmagny. Her father is Ambroise and mother Geneviève Guillet, deceased. She is given in marriage by her uncle and guardian (tuteur) Charles Fournier. Amongst others, we note Pierre Joncas, a cousin of Marie, is present. Officiating is Chrétien Lechasseur, Parish Priest and Missionary (PRDH Marriage Certificate Number 230480). The 1762 Canada Census of Montmagny reads: "Étienne Hayet qualifies for the status of "refugee" and "Male Children aged less than 15 years of age: 3 - Woman: 1 - Man: 1". Presumption: Étienne and Françoise married in Acadie and are in exile because of the Grand Dérangement. They move the family to the Montmagny area and two more children are born after their arrival and settling. Would it have taken over 10 years to be recognized?? There is obviously a possibility these are not the same folks! Really appreciate your time and effort. Serge Notify Administrator about this message?
