Aynes Family Genealogy Forum

You might want to look at THE ABRIDGED COMPENDIUM OF AMERICAN GENEALOGY edited by F. A. Virkis and pub. in 1928. It indicates that Samuel Aynes's parents were James Aynes & Winnie McGuinn. James was b. Culpeper Va. in 1795. Soon after marriage they moved to Ky. Samuel was born in 1796, married in 1821 and died l867. Their daughter Elton Ann (b. 1821, d. 1902) married Squire Penn (b. 1818, married 1842, d. 1872). They had at least one child, Elsie Penn (b. 1857) who married James Andrew Scott (married l876). They, in turn, had at least one child, Harrie M. Scott who was born in Frankfort Ky. Hattie's siblings are given as well as 3 generations for James A. Scott and Squire Penn's father, grandparents, & Great grandpaents. There are many other records for Ky. families. John Aynes moved from Ky. to Ind., and Missouri in the 1800s. There is a Fannie Aynes in Woodford Cty. Ky. who married Samuel Sublett. They both died approx. 1870. Daniel Aynes & Martha Jacobs were married in Bourbon Cty l808. William Aynes married Aggy Edwards in Fayette Cty. l809. Ann Aynes appears on the tax records for Woodford Cty. 1800. The Census records for 1810 and 1820 list a James Aynes in Woodford Cty., Ky. It looks like he lived with his wife, 2 sons, and 3 daughters. In those days the census listed only the name of the head of household. The 1870 Census for Jack County Texas lists the family of a David Aynes who was born in Kentucky. I think there are still Aynes family members in Kentucky. I would be interesting in knowing if anyone knows how all of these people fit together and if they are related to James Aynes (b. l817? Ind.) or Garbiel Aynes, Sr. (b. Va. or Tenn. l795 d. Ind. 1868.
