There is a Gabriel Aynes who was born in Brown County, Ind. in l847. He was a soldier in Co. H. of the 13th Regiment of the Ind. Vols. during the Civil War.

I believe his father was Gabriel Aynes, Sr. who is shown in Tenn. on the 1830 census, but in Brown Cty. Ind. in 1840. Garbiel Sr. was married to Sarah ____. He was born in Tenn. or Va. (records vary) in 1802. He died July 17, l868. She was born in Tenn. 1806 and died Dec. 31, l853.

Gabriel may have been related to a Rueben Aynes, who was also on the l830 census for Tenn and had also moved to Brown County Ind. by l840. There is also a John Aynes from Kentucky who moved to Indiana about this same time and may be related to them.

Many of their children went to Missouri around l850. Some moved back to Indiana after the Civil War. Another group went to settle near Stella Nebraska. James Aynes, who was born in Ind. in l817, and may have been related to the Aynes families mentioned above, moved to Missouri by at least l850 and to Arkansas by l880. Many of his children moved to Indian Territory (Okla.) by the turn of the century.

If you have any information on James (his wife's name was Martha) I would appreciate receiving it.
