Charlotte AYLWARD died in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1864. According to her death certificate and her age at death, she was born about 1800 (place unknown). Her father was "blank" AYLWARD, a shipowner. Her mother was Sarah "blank".
The above is not a lot to go on.
Charlotte AYLWARD married William Nimmo SANDILANDS about 1820 (supposedly Scotland but no record found). They had several children who also were supposedly born in Scotland but, again, no records have been found.
These families seem very mysterious and untraceable.
However, I have recently found that William Nimmo SANDILAND's father, Erskine NIMMO (there was a surname change between father and son) was a Mariner, a Captain operating out of Madras, India in the late 1700s and perhaps even until his death in 1805.
I wonder whether Mr AYLWARD, shipowner, and Erskine NIMMO, Captain, operated together somewhere between India and Scotland in this time frame.
If anyone has any knowledge of a Mr AYLWARD, shipowner, I would be very pleased to hear from them.
