the clanton family, where we tie in with the aylesworth
my name is beverly mclelland beckham, my father and mother were john nelson and ruth clanton mclelland, her mother and father were asbery clanton and alverta clanton, my grandmother ws a foster child, her name i was told was alverta barlowe, i have found where her family was supposed to be in wilkes county nc,supposedly she was the daughter of thomas barlowe and laura coffey barlowe,my mom told me alvertas sisters were lizzie, kate, and sophie, her name is not listed with her family. at 15, alverta married asbery clanton and alverta had a big family, fred, bard, john, ed,several children that died young, i believe ila mae, and willie, were two of them, she had three living daughters, lizie, kate and ruth. its odd , seemed she namedher two daughters after sisters but not one daughter who was ruth my mother, i have oft wondered was she born out of wedlock, or why she didnt name ruth(my mom) after sophie, why nobody seemed to claim this little girl, mr coffey was 30, meet this child and said she was an abused foster child staying with some coffeys around millers creek, nc, so he took her home and married her and in our day this too would be abuse, but in older days, folks marriedvery young oft times to get away from abuse not realizing with having so many children and trying to provide for them was abuse for her also. alverta was born in 1880 in iredell county all,Iwas ever told she was born in wilkes county nowam wondering since she married into the clantons does your family have info on her? and also the clantons?in one of your websites i found the clantons on page 11, i now cant find thatwebsite and can you help me,have always been confused in my background with the clantons and barlowes if she was barlowe, people seem to clam up and dont want to say nothing, even if they know. well we dont livein the dark ages anymore, where family secrets are kept hidden,i am a grandchild of alverta and asbery clanton and proud of both of them they are the reason i am here, and i think all of us deserve to know our roots, dont you, well the clanton family here in iredell county statesville nc, clam up or dont know and for the younger ones we search and dig and cant find nothing, the older ones admit there was asbery clanton and alverta clanton, but when you get into her maiden name of barlowe a door isslammed in your face and we all get the blank looks, like we shouldntreally know , so i decided to try the clanton approach and leave out the barlowes, its such a mystery that all want to keep hidden, well i didnt know my grandmother, she died long fore i was born, and i want to know what is wrong that i cant be told, i am 58 years old, but could you just refer me to where on your website i once found the page number 11, where the clantons tie in with the aylesworth family, thought maybe i had hit something and nowi cant remember where i found it, but it was something called aylesworth. net and it was page number 11, the clantons, sincerely bev beckham email is [email protected] of the biggest reasons but not the only one is i have a son who is 32, and he has a child who is 2, and with me what little, mighty little i have , i cant pass on to my son or grandson, i know nothing much at all about my grandmother and have been told how smart she was, how talented a team her and grandfather clanton were, but getting any background info on her is sealed away with someone, mom and her whole family are deceased now and the grandkids of alverta and asbery clanton dig everywhere and find little about her, in my heart, i feel this little girl was mistreated, but in marrying so young, i wonder if she ever felt like, when as a child or child bride, i wonder did she ever find any kind of happiness, and i really think my grandfather was tender hearted, couldnt stand seeing herabused thought he was improving the situation for her. my life is very limited maybe another year as disease has taken over my body, please help me to be able to pass something on to my son and grandson, it hurts me that i have nothing much to tell them at all.thanks, and wonder why the secrecy, always bev, [email protected]
