Gaylene: Sorry mate but my records do not contain either of those names.As to the surname, your guess is correct. There are those on both sides of the question but most will consent it is just a distortion. The family seat in Glostershire, England is known as Aylworth. It depends on the person recording the record as to what they thought they heard from the person supplying the information.Many in early times could not read or wright so had to depend on those who could to do the recording.
I find it disturbing that just because you are down under you cannot access world wide records. I have found that most of the family in Australia came there direct from England.If you can get on the internet you should be able to access all of the records. Try typing in the Keyword "Aylesworth" and see what sources you find. Use the quotes too. When I was in your country I found that it didn't make any difference how you spelled the name as either way when spoken it sounded the same. In the alphabet they pronounce the letter B as I and also the letter after H as I. I was kidding our host that you have two I's in your alphabet and no A.
