He is called Enoch in his brother, Daniel's will, but generally called Enos. Son of Joseph Ayers (b.04 Apr 1674 Newbury, MA-d. after 1743 Woodbridge, NJ) and Phebe Camp. Enos had license to marry Martha Gold dated 08 May 1749, Woodbridge, Middlesex Co, NJ.[Early New Jersey Marriages:license granted this date. State Library Archives.] He was a member of the first class to graduate (1748) from the College of New Jersey, now Princeton University. Six men in the graduating class. He was ordained by the Presbytery of New York about 1750 and settled as the pastor of Blooming Grove and Bethlehem churches, Orange Co, NY.He continued at Blooming Grove until his death in 1764.[Alexander, Samuel Davies;Princeton College during the eighteenth century;NY; 1872;p.8.] His will, written May 29, 1764, of Blooming Grove, Orange Co,(NY)was proved July 09, 1764, Orange Co. To wife Martha, daughters Martha and Mary, his July 9 farm and some land on Southside of Wawayanda Road, as well as personal estate with reminder in case of death before the daughters are of age or are married, to Martin Ayres of New Jersey, son of brother David, and sons of brother Daniel.[NY Calendar of Wills.] Enos was buried adjacent to the Blooming Grove original church with two later pastors. That church was razed in 1823 , and a larger building erected over the same site.
