John Airs & Mary Manning of North Carolina

Hi ! my name is Beverly Mount-Douds, and I am an descendant of
John Aires/Airs/Ayers and Mary Manning.

I have located a will for John Airs (7 March 1776) in Tyrrell County, NC. According to the will, John’ spouse is Martha (Unknown), and their children are, David, John, Ann, Sarah, Mary, Elisabeth, Isabel, Hannah, and Isaac.
Also found in the Tyrell County marriages are,
John Aires to Mary Maning, 01 July 1784
David Airs to Meredith Davis, 16 Jan 1794
Isaac Airs to Charlote Everett, 22 Feb 1796
Elizabeth Aires to Benjamin Phelps, 11 Nov 1795
Zelpha Aires to John Griffin, 21 Oct 1775

My family was John Ayers, born in NC, maybe later moved to SC, than to Georgia and ending in Florida. Here are the children of John (Capt. Jack) Ayers and his 2 wife’s.

FIRST GENERATION

1. John AIRES was born about 1760 in North Carolina. He died in October 1823 in North Carolina.

He was married to Mary MANNING (daughter of Benjamin MANNING and Peraby DUGGAN) on July 1, 1784 in Tyrell County, North Carolina. Mary MANNING was born about 1763 in Bertie County, North Carolina.

John AIRES and Mary MANNING had the following children:

       +2       i.       Nathaniel AYERS (born about 1788).
       +3       ii.       "Capt. Jack" John AYERS (born on October 7, 1791).
       +4       iii.       Ishmael AYERS (born about 1795).
       +5       iv.       William AYERS (born about 1798).
       +6       v.       Thomas AYERS (born about 1809).

SECOND GENERATION

2. Nathaniel AYERS was born about 1788.

He was married to Mary.
Mary was born about 1789 in North Carolina.

3.       "Capt. Jack" John AYERS was born on October 7, 1791 in South Carolina.
Ayers/ Martin Family Book # 2 issue, page 116. John moved to Calhoun Co, Florida in 1847 from Pulaski County, Georgia. He appeared on the census in 1850 in Calhoun County, Florida. He died about 1858 in Calhoun County, Florida. He was buried in Ayers Cemetery, Calhoun County, Florida. He fought in the Seminole and Creek Indian Wars of Florida & Georgia. He was also known as Capt. Jack. Family Bible belonging to Capt. John Ayers, is now owned by,
Wendell Glen Ayers of San Ramon, Calif., a great-great-grandson.

Mrs. John AYERS was born about 1793 in South Carolina. She died in 1836 in Pulaski County, Georgia.
"Capt. Jack" John AYERS and Mrs. John AYERS had the following children:

       +7       i.       Abigail Saphrona AYERS (born on June 11, 1820).
       +8       ii.       "Polly" Penelope Sarah AYERS (born on April 12, 1822).
       +9       iii.       "Frances" Tellitha Ann Frances AYERS (born on September 10, 1824).

He was married to "Arilda" Marilda STEPHENS (daughter of David STEPHENS Sr. and Miss. BRYANT) on May 25, 1837 in Hawkinsville, Pulaski County, Georgia. "Arilda" Marilda STEPHENS was born on September 7, 1816 in Decatur County, Georgia. She appeared on the census in 1850 in Calhoun County, Florida. She appeared on the census in 1860 in Calhoun County, Florida. She appeared on the census in 1870 in Calhoun County, Florida. She died about 1880 in Calhoun County, Florida. She was buried in Ayers Cemetery, Calhoun County, Florida. She was also known as Queen Ann. An Ayers Bible now owned by their Descendants, the Middlebrook family of Pensacola, Fl.

pages 124 & 125.....Burial Places on Tyndall Air Force Base is the HARE HAMMOCK Cemetery -
this burial place measures 46x47 feet and uniquely rests on top of an
Indian mound that is off limits on the south side of U.S. 98.
Records list a Marilda Ayers and a Parish girl as being buried there.
Their families were engaged in the turpentine industry.

       11       ii.       David Stephen AYERS was born on August 14, 1839 in Georgia. He appeared on the census in 1850 in Calhoun County, Florida. He appeared on the census in 1860 in Calhoun County, Florida. He died on July 2, 1863 in Battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. See page 5 in the Ayers Book He discharged from the military Civil War from Rico's Bluff, Liberty County, Florida. David joined Capt. Gregory's Co. H. 5th Reg. Fl. Inf. at Ricko's Bluff in Liberty Co, Fl.

       +16       vii.       William Asa AYERS (born on January 9, 1846). This is my direct line….BMD
       +17       viii.       Queen Ann AYERS (born on March 12, 1849).
       +18       ix.       Ishmael Albert AYERS (born on February 16, 1850).
       19       x.       Mary Arilda AYERS was born on June 21, 1852 in Calhoun County, Florida. She appeared on the census in 1860 in Calhoun County, Florida. She died before 1870 in Calhoun County, Florida.
       +20       xi.       Samuel AYERS (born on January 10, 1855).

4. Ishmael AYERS was born about 1795 in South Carolina. He died before 1880 in Mitchell County, Georgia.
He was married to Leah Margaret in Charleston, South Carolina. Ishmael AYERS and Leah Margaret had the following children:

       21       i.       David AYERS was born on September 14, 1823 in South Carolina. He died in May 1896 in Hernando County, Florida.
       22       ii.       James AYERS was born on March 9, 1828 in South Carolina.

He was married to Abigail. Ishmael AYERS and Abigail had the following children:

       23       i.       Thomas AYERS was born in 1836 in Georgia. He died in Battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
       24       ii.       John W. AYERS was born about 1837.
       25       iii.       Solomon AYERS was born about 1839 in Georgia. He died in Died in the War.
       26       iv.       Ishmael AYERS was born about 1842 in Georgia.

5. William AYERS was born about 1798. He appeared on the census in 1840 in Jackson County, Florida.
He was married to Miranda /Amanda WILLIAMS. Miranda /Amanda WILLIAMS was born in Lee County, Georgia. William AYERS and Miranda /Amanda WILLIAMS had the following children:

       27       i.       Benjamin AYERS was born about 1841 in Georgia. He discharged from the military from Enlisted at Alum Bluff, Liberty Co, Florida. Capt. Hopkins 10th Fla. Inf. Co. F.. He died in Died in the War.
       28       ii.       William Albery AYERS was born on March 11, 1842 in Georgia. He died on June 5, 1863 in Died in the War. He discharged from the military from Enlisted at Alum Bluff, Liberty Co, Florida. Capt. Hopkins 10th Fla. Inf. Co. F..
       +29       iii.       John Greenberry AYERS (born on February 5, 1844).
       +30       iv.       Mary Elizabeth AYERS (born about 1845).
