I had that Joseph-Eunice-Jonathan-Mary connection, but from a different source: Sears, Albert J., “Early Families of Standish, Maine”, Heritage Books, Inc., 1991. "Albert J. Sears, the compiler and author of this work, was born June 8, 1896 in Standish and died August 12, 1983, in Portland, Maine. The sources of his genealogical study and his work on the early history of Standish can be found by consulting his original papers deposited at the Maine Historical Society. Robert Taylor made a typescript of Mr. Sears' genealogy work and placed in additions." But then I also found this: Lapham, William B., "History of the Town of Bethel, Maine," 1981 ("A facsimile of the 1891 edition") presents some different information: "JOSEPH AYER, born in Standish, moved to Brownfield and from there came to Bethel. He lived at Bean's Corner and was a blacksmith. His wife was Mary Moor. Children: i Samuel, b. ___ m. Alice Kilgore. ii James, b. ___, m. Thirza Mason, (M.D. at Newfield.) iii Jonathan, b. ___ m. Nancy Marston of Newfield. iv Hugh Moor, b. ___. He studied medicine with his brother in Newfield, and settled in South Carolina. v Polly, b. ___, m. Daniel Carr of Rumford. vi Sally, b. ___. She died unmarried aged 25." I've not yet succeeded in sorting this out. Notify Administrator about this message?
