Thanks, Lee. It has appeared there were two men by the name of Jonathan Ayer in the same area at this time. One married Nancy Marston and lived in Bethel until at least 1813. The other (my relative) married Mary Marston and lived in Parsonsfield when, according to Parsonsfield vital records, son David was born 10 Oct 1813 (3rd child) and when daughter Elizabeth R. Ayer was born 27 Jun 1816 (4th child). Do you suppose they were the same Jonathan, married twice? Perhaps my David was the 3rd child of wife Mary, etc. What source did you find for the dates of death of Jonathan and Mary?
