Richard Arey/Ayre 1618, Mass

Heya All -
Am not sure if any of you can help me out, but any pointers would be welcome. I have been tracking down this ancestor for what seems like an eternity. What I do know is that he was born 1618/20 in England in the London area. He ended up on Martha's Vineyard, Dukes, Mass and drowned off the coast of Cape Cod in 1669. He was married to Elizabeth Crouch.
Rumor has it that his father's name was Thomas, that the spelling he used on Martha's Vineyard was AREY, though Elizabeth is referred to in her brother's will as "my sister Eliz Ayre, wife of Richard Ayre of New England".
Is there a possibility that he is related to your Haverhill Mass gang? Perhaps going off on his own? Info I have says that he was a coastal trader and mariner, so the islands would have been a natural for him.
Thanx in advance for any help that might be forth-coming.

Susanna
