Regarding: Andrew E. Aydelotte - from "History of
Tennessee-Sketches of Henderson , Chester, McNairy , Decatur and Hardin countiies....
Doctor J. F. Aydelott born 28 April, 1835 son of Andrew E. Aydelott and Sarah E. Smith, both natives of Tennessee and both of Irish descent. Removed to Henderson Co., TN in 1836; Andrew W. Aydelott was Sheriff for 6 years and
Dep. Sheriff for 4 years. He Died 3 Oct., 1882 in Texas and his wife died 8 July, 1879. The family consisted of 10 children. This Aydelott family came from Ireland before the Revolutionary War.
This was the first Aydelott family line that was not
part of the Benjamin and Marie Aydelott family that came to Colony of Virginia by 1670 from London, England. Unable to connect Andrew E. Aydelott(e) with Benjamin Aydelott(e) line. Take this with a grain of salt, but perhaps Andrew came from Virginia before entering Tennesse in 1836. Benjamin and Marie did not stay in Virginia long, but went and lived at Snow Hill, Maryland (eastern shore of Maryland). Since Andrew was executor of William C. Clark 's will, they may have both come into Tennessee at same time and from same place.
